Is Hysterectomy After Menopause The Best Answer For Hormone Therapy When You Have Uterine Fibroids?

I have uterine fibroids and have gone through menopause. I desperately need HRT but due to uterine fibroids my doctor recomends hysteroctomy. I have also had steph infections in the urinary tract due to enlarged uterus. My urologists also recomends hysterectomy.

if you have both doctors telling you the same thing then I say go for it ~ i never made it to menopause I had a hyst 8 years ago & all though it was a little mind boggling for me I made it through just fine & I did do hrt for about 1 month & quit due to the high risk of heart attack & stroke & death ~but I am fine without it & have no strange hair growing any where so I did well i do believe?
You have 2 docs recommending hysterectomy. You could get a third opinion, possibly from a woman doctor. I imagine the HRT would be painful with fibroids and that is why your first doc wants to do the surgery. I suppose the staph infections are a result of an enlarged uterus, but I am not an expert. This may a reason to get another opinion, however staph infections seem pretty serious–so if this is the case, it’s a strong case for the operation.
I am 38 months past menopause and having a daVinci hysterectomy in 36 hours. What was once just a matter of fibroid has become endometrial cancer – very common with a 95% cure rate, but still scary whenever “c” comes into play. I cannot find anything on the Net regarding a recurrence of post surgical menopause symptoms for women who were in menopause before having a hysterectomy. Since it’s the weekend, and I failed to ask my doctor this key question during the pre-op visit, does anyone know the answer?
fibroids is normally not life threatening and it responds well to natural cure. Have you explored this option. In case it is not an emergency , natural cure for fibroids are the best treatment for uterine fibroids.
