You are stilll producing hormones which is great…What are your symptoms?? Hot flashes, spotting, mood swings????? Are there any other stresses in your life???// Like I am sure that was a silly ques……But anyway I would hope you can go through menopause naturally before adding any extra hormone thereapy but of course as always discuss this with your doctor….
Good question! Forty is kind of young for menopause, but if you have symptoms, talk to your doctor. If you no longer have a period (but do have ovaries) there are some blood tests they can do to find out what your hormone levels are. You may be experiencing symptoms of something completely different though, that’s why it’s important to talk to your doc. Not everyone is a candidate for hormone replacement therapy – if your mom had breast cancer, for example, you are not a candidate because it increases your risk. So, please, don’t be afraid to talk to your doc, and ask her LOTS of questions!
Partial – I am assuming you have one or both ovaries then. I had a hysterectomy at age 31, I am now going to be 42 soon. I went thru the hot flashes, etc. and I didn’t really use much of the hormones. If you want to try it though, go to doc and tell him your symptoms and ask to start on a low dose hormone, it should help. I used premarin at a low dose for about a year and then stopped and have been fine thus far Good luck!
