Can A Woman Still Go Through Menopause Psychologically?

My mother had a hysterectomy in her late 30s. She’s now in her early 50s and has mood swings more than usual and sudden tears (amongst other things). After her hysterectomy she had the mood swings and her doctor said that she was going through a “sudden menopause”, but now being in her early 50s and with similar symptoms to before could it mean she’s going through it psychologically?

There is a very KEY question.. does she still have her ovaries? Which, if she entered a ‘sudden menopause’ when she had her hysterectomy,. that tells me that she does not still have her ovaries.
Menopause is still not very well understood .. I mean good Lord they have only been accepting for 25 years that we have PMS? I bet the body does go through some changes, even if we don’t have ‘our equipment’ anymore..
I would have her get her hormones checked.. just to make sure nothing funny is going and also, her thyroid.. as that can make moods and stuff tough.
Please tell her she’s ok, but she should be seen and have the docs explain why she’s feeling this way. Thyroid is my hunch!
Yes, if they left in her ovaries.
